お金とピストル
Money and Pistol

　泥棒がケチンボの家へ入ってピストルを見せて、お金を出せと言いました。
A burglar intruded into the house of a cheapskate.

ケチンボは、
「ただお金を出すのはいやだ。その短銃(ピストル)を売ってくれるなら千円で買おう。お前は私からお金さえ貰えばそんなピストルは要らないだろう」
The cheapskate said “I don’t want to just give you money. If you sell that pistol to me, I will pay you 1000 yen. If you only get money, you won’t need the pistol”.

　泥棒は考えておりましたが、とうとうそのピストルを千円でケチンボに売りました。
The burglar was thinking and finally sold the pistol to the cheapskate for 1000 yen.

ケチンボは泥棒からピストルを受け取ると、すぐにも泥棒を撃ちそうにしながら、
「さあ、そのお金ばかりでない、ほかで盗んだお金もみんな出せ。出さないと殺してしまうぞ」
　と怒鳴りました。
The cheapskate, as soon as he received the pistol from the burglar, got ready to shoot and shouted “Now then, give me all the money you got including one you robbed in other places, and else, you are gonna die”.

　泥棒は腹を抱えて笑いました。
「アハハ。そのピストルはオモチャのピストルで、撃っても弾丸(たま)が出ないのだよ」
　と言ううちに表へ逃げ出しました。
The burglar held his sides with laughter and said “Haha, this pistol is just a toy. No bullet would come out even if you triggered it”, and ran away out while saying so.

ケチンボはピストルを投げ出して泥棒を追っかけて、往来で取っ組み合いを始めましたが、やがて通りかかったおまわりさんが二人を押えて警察へ連れて行きました。
The cheapskate threw the pistol away and ran after the burglar. They started scuffling, but before long, a police officer passed by and arrested both of them to take to a police station.

　警察でいろいろ調べてみますと、泥棒が貰った千円のお金はみんな贋物のお金で、ピストルはやっぱり本物のピストルでした。
The police gave some investigation and they found out that the 1000 bills that the burglar received were all fakes and the pistol was a real one.

　二人共牢屋へ入れられました。
They were both incarcerated.
