英語日記 大不況がやって来る

Yesterday, I heard an ominous economic prediction from one of my language partners in the US.

昨日、アメリカの言語交換相手から不吉な経済予測を聞いた。

From what he said, the US economic situation has come to the extent that some telltale signs for another recession are noticeable.

彼が言ったことから判断して、アメリカの経済情勢は、不況の明らかな兆候が見られるような段階に来た。

一つには、長期ローン契約の変動利率が、彼はローンの名前を思い出せなかったけど、最近2、3倍に上がって今は記録的に高い。

この高いローン利率のせいで、30年ローンみたいな長期住宅ローンを組んでる人たちは返済で苦労している。

At the same time, the price of commodities such as gas prices is tremendously high.

同時にガソリンなど日常品の値段は恐ろしく上がっている。

Some people who are forced by their employers to commute to work by car again after the long hibernation of remote working, now spend more than $150 a week for gas, and can’t complain more.

All these factors might comprise a strong down spiral that could lead to a recession before the end of this year comes.

これらすべての要素が強烈なダウンスパイラルをつくり、今年の終わり前には不況になるかもしれない。

Meanwhile, I feel like Japan faces a similar situation.

一方で、日本も似たような状況に直面しているように思う。
