I started taking online English conversation lessons again.
オンライン英会話を再開した。

Because of this, my amount of the time of speaking English so far has been going about 1.5 hours or less a day.

これによって、自分の英語を話す時間は1日1.5時間弱になった。

At first, I set the target of over two hours of daily English conversation before I started, but it seems too challenging for me.

最初は1日2時間以上英会話することが目標だったけど、自分にとっては厳しそうだ。

The online teachers that I’ve had lessons from are not native in English either: they’ve also learned it as a second language.

レッスンをしているオンラインの先生たちも英語ネイティブではない。彼らも第二言語として英語を学んだ。

I’ll probably continue the lessons for three months.

おそらく3か月はレッスンを続けるつもりだ。

However, being all this said, I wonder how effective speaking with non-native teachers is, from the perspective of language acquisition.

しかし、とはいうものの、ネイティブじゃない先生たちと話すことが言語習得の観点からどれほど効果的なのかよくわからない。

There may be both pros and cons.

たぶん賛否両論あるだろう。

The fact that I have a longer time to speak it probably matters and helps me get used to the act of speaking.

英語を話す時間が長くなることは恐らく重要で、それによって話す行為に慣れることができると思う。

I believe that if you want to improve your speaking skills, the best way is to speak the language.

もし話すスキルを向上させたければ、一番よい方法はその言語を話すことだと思う。

Also, it feels good that they listen to and understand me in English, to know I’m doing it correctly, so to speak.

あと、先生たちが自分の話を英語で聞いてくれて理解してもらえる、つまり、自分はちゃんとやってると知るのは、気分がよい。

But I know teachers are also fellow English learners and inevitably make mistakes, and sometimes they might be talking in unusual ways like although what they say makes sense, among native speakers, no one says in that way.

でも、先生たちも英語学習者で間違いもする。そして時には、意味は通ってもネイティブの間ではそういう言い方はしないという話し方をしているかもしれない。

Eventually, such peculiar habits of speaking might rub off on me without knowing.

長い時間が経つと、そういう独特な話す癖は知らないうちに自分にも移ってしまうかもしれない。

Oh come to think of it, the only environment where I speak English is either on language exchange sessions or those online lessons.

あ、でも考えてみれば、自分が英語話す環境は言語交換かオンラインレッスンだけだ。

I feel like English practice has already become very part of my life, so either language exchange and online lessons could be both means and end at the same time.

英語練習はすでに人生の一部になってるような感じなので、言語交換もオンラインレッスンも同時に手段であり目的でもありうる。

In that sense, effectiveness might not be very important.

その意味では、効果というにはそれほど重要ではないかもしれない。
