英語日記 両親がコロナ感染

Today I knew that my parents got COVID when I called them after work.

今日、両親に電話をした時、彼らがコロナにかかったことを知った。

It seems that it was probably my mother who fell sick first during the week before last.

おそらく先々週に母親が最初に調子を崩したようだ。

Back then, when I called and asked her how they were doing, she said that she got a cold, went to see a doctor and was diagnosed as a cold.

その頃、電話をして調子はどうか聞いた時は、母親は風邪をひいて病院に行って風邪と診断されたと言っていた。

It seems like she got better soon.

しばらくして治ったようだった。

Just in case I asked her if she tested for COVID and she said yes.

念のためコロナの検査はしたのか聞いたら母親はしたと言った。

Now I suspect the result was false negative or she actually hadn’t tested properly.

今にしてみると、検査結果が間違いだったか母親はちゃんと検査しなかったんじゃないかと思う。

When I called her today, she said that a couple of days after she went to a clinic, my father had a high fever and tested positive.

今日母に電話した時、母が病院に行って数日後に父が高熱を出し、陽性の結果だったと言った。

Now both of them stay at home, seemingly, under the instruction of the public health department.

今は、保健所からの指導なのか、2人とも自宅療養中だ。

His fever only lasted for one day, and according to my mother, he doesn’t have any other symptoms.

父の熱は1日しか続かず、母親によると、他には何も症状がない。

Luckily, someone in the public health department has been keeping contact with them.

幸運なことに、保健所の誰かが毎日連絡してきているようだ。

Considering the situation, I figure my mother still remains positive, but her symptoms are very mild.

状況から考えて、母親はまだ陽性だと思う。でも症状はかなり軽いらしい。

It seems that she has a scratchy throat, judging from her voice over the phone.

電話越しの声から察して、喉の調子が悪いようだ。

Since their house is only two or three kilometers from my apartment, after the call, I went to their house to drop a pulse oximeter and some candies and some beverages at the entrance.

両親の家は自分のアパートから2、3キロしか離れてないので、電話の後、両親の家に行き、パルスオキシメーターとのど飴と飲み物をいくつか玄関前に置いてきた。

I’ll take some ingredients day after tomorrow, too.

明後日は食材を届けるつもりだ。

I really hope they will be fine.

無事でいてほしい。
