　何がそうさせたのか。私はいつの間にか日覆の中へ這入(はい)っていた。
“There she is. Please take a closer look at my babe”
I wonder what made me do it, but I went inside the sunshade before I realized it.

　私の目の前のガラス箱の中に女の顔があった。
In front of me, the woman’s face was inside the glass box.

彼女は糸切歯をむき出してニッコリ笑っていた。
She was grinning showing her canine teeth.

いまわしい蝋細工の腫物(しゅもつ)の奥に、真実の人間の皮膚が黒ずんで見えた。
Under the ominous swelling of waxwork, the real human skin looked darkened.

作り物でない証拠には、一面にうぶ毛が生えていた。

If you think it’s all a lie, get inside that shade and look at what there is. You’ll see a human cadaver exposed in the middle of Tokyo”

けれど私にはそれを実行する丈けの気力がなかった。
