英語日記 いよいよ東京オリンピックが始まる

I decided to pretend that the Tokyo Olympics isn’t happening and so I won’t watch any games on TV.

自分は東京オリンピックはないことに決めたので、テレビで競技を見るつもりはない。

But I’m curious how everything turns out under the sloppily prepared safety measures for covid that they’ve kept boasting along so insistently.

しかし、日本政府がさんざん自慢し続けてきたが結局準備不十分なコロナ安全策の下で、全てがどうなっていくかには興味がある。

I’ve heard each Japan Olympic committee member earns a monthly pay of over 200m yen, so it’s not hard to imagine no one wants to cancel it or take the responsibility to decide on it.

日本オリンピック委員会の各委員は200万円以上の月報酬を得ていると聞いた。だから、誰も中止にしたくない、また誰もその決定の責任を取りたくないのは想像に難くない。

That’s really unfortunate for usual citizens, but that might be how any political decisions are made.

一般市民にとっては本当に残念なことだが、どんな政治的決定もこんなふうに決められているものかもしれない。
